V-NISSG · Mandatory module

Technologies

Mandatory module for all participants – cross-device knowledge of laser, IPL, radiofrequency and ultrasound.

About this module

The Technologies module is, alongside the Fundamentals module, mandatory for all participants. It imparts cross-device technical understanding: how do laser, IPL, radiofrequency and ultrasound work – and how do they differ in effect, risk and area of application?

Learning objectives

  • Compare technology principles of laser, IPL, RF and US
  • Understand device-specific parameters and their effects
  • Assess risk profile by technology
  • Correctly calibrate, maintain and document devices
  • Recommend the appropriate technology to clients

Course content

1Laser technology

  • Structure and operating principle of a laser
  • Laser types: diode laser, Nd:YAG, alexandrite, ruby
  • Wavelength and target structure (chromophore)
  • Pulse duration and fluence
  • Cooling systems and skin protection

2IPL technology

  • Difference between laser and IPL: coherent vs. broadband
  • Filter combinations and spectrum
  • Energy measurement and calibration
  • Application areas: hair, pigmentation, vascular
  • Contraindications with IPL

3Radiofrequency (RF)

  • Electrical energy and heat generation
  • Monopolar vs. bipolar vs. multipolar
  • Treatment depth and range of effects
  • Indications: skin tightening, cellulite, fat reduction
  • Safety parameters and device maintenance

4Ultrasound (US)

  • Mechanical vibrations and biological effect
  • Frequency ranges and penetration depth
  • Coupling media and treatment protocol
  • Combination with other technologies
