About the course
The Skin Therapist training is one of the most demanding and at the same time most versatile programmes at LW Akademie. In twelve months you acquire in-depth knowledge of dermatology, skin diagnosis and targeted treatment techniques. The programme combines fundamental medical knowledge with practical application skills and specifically prepares you for self-employment or work in medical practices, spa establishments and specialist studios.
What you will learn

- Safely apply peeling, massage and active-ingredient treatments
- Use device-supported treatments (US, electrostimulation)

1Block 1 – Skin foundations
- Skin anatomy and histology
- Skin physiology: barrier function, moisture binding, sebum
- Skin types and skin conditions
- Introduction to dermatology: common conditions
- Hygiene and infection control in practice
2Block 2 – Skin diagnosis & anamnesis
- Anamnesis consultation: technique and documentation
- Visual and manual skin diagnosis
- Skin condition catalogue and diagnostic practice
- Indications and contraindications
- Photo documentation and progress monitoring
3Block 3 – Manual treatment techniques
- Classic aesthetics: cleansing, peeling, mask, finish
- Massage: classic, lymph drainage, connective tissue massage
- Electrotherapy: iontophoresis, galvanic, microcurrent
- Ultrasound: introduction and phonophoresis
- Manual lymph drainage of the face
4Block 4 – Active ingredients & products
- Cosmetic chemistry: INCI, pH, emulsions
- Active ingredients: vitamins, peptides, hyaluronic acid, AHA/BHA
- Sun protection: UV filters, SPF and photo-ageing
- Product knowledge: brand-independent assessment
- Recommendation and sales without hard-selling
5Block 5 – Specialisms
- Treatment of mature and problem skin
- Anti-ageing: strategies and limits of aesthetics
- Acne and rosacea: treatment concepts
