Do I need a competence certificate (V-NISSG)?

Yes – since 1 June 2024 the competence certificate is mandatory for all persons who commercially use non-ionising radiation (laser, IPL, radiofrequency, ultrasound, etc.) for cosmetic treatments on clients. Without a valid competence certificate you risk fines and business closure orders from enforcement authorities.

Which treatments are specifically affected?

All professional applications of non-ionising radiation on persons are affected: laser and IPL hair removal, PMU and tattoo removal with laser, cellulite treatments with radiofrequency or ultrasound, and pigmentation correction and removal.

How does the V-NISSG training work?

Accepted Answer

You begin with the two mandatory modules Fundamentals (4–5 days) and Technologies (2 days). You then complete one or more BKF modules (2 days each) depending on your device and area of application: laser hair removal, IPL hair removal, PMU/tattoo removal, cellulite or skin & pigmentation. After passing the examination you receive the competence certificate in accordance with V-NISSG.

Is the competence certificate valid throughout Switzerland?

Yes. LW Akademie is a listed examination centre under V-NISSG and offers all required modules. The competence certificate is valid throughout Switzerland and must be available for inspection during official checks.

Is there a deadline for existing businesses?

Accepted Answer

The transition period ended on 1 June 2024. Since that date the competence certificate is mandatory for all affected businesses, regardless of when they started operating. If you do not yet have a certificate, we strongly recommend completing the course as soon as possible.

What prior qualifications are required for the diploma programmes?

For the Skin Therapist programme a completed secondary education (Matura or equivalent) is sufficient. For the Medical Aesthetician programme you need a completed vocational qualification in aesthetics, care or healthcare. For the continuing education programmes (Oncology and Complementary Aesthetician) an existing aesthetics qualification is a prerequisite.

Can I complete a course alongside my current job?

Yes. Our diploma programmes are designed to be completed alongside employment. The exact class times (daytime, evening and weekend blocks) vary by course. Please contact us for a current timetable.

How many people are in a class?

Accepted Answer

We deliberately keep classes small with a maximum of 8–10 participants. This guarantees intensive, personal support and keeps the practical component high.

What is the status of the diplomas?

Our diplomas are established qualification certificates in the industry. The V-NISSG competence certificate is enshrined in law and valid throughout Switzerland. The diploma programmes are designed as private specialist qualifications and are accepted by industry associations and employers in Switzerland.

Is instalment payment available?

Yes. For all diploma programmes we offer individual instalment payment arrangements. Contact us directly – we will find a solution together. For V-NISSG courses (2–4 days) payment is generally required in advance.

What is included in the course fees?

Included are teaching materials, course notes, the final examination and the competence certificate or diploma. Not included are travel and accommodation costs, and (for diploma programmes) practical exercise materials where explicitly stated.

What happens if I have to cancel a course?

Cancellations up to 14 days before the course start are free of charge. For later cancellations we retain a processing fee of CHF 50.–. In the case of proven illness (medical certificate) we always find an individual solution – such as rebooking to a subsequent date.

Do you offer company courses or in-house training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We also run V-NISSG courses and selected continuing education programmes as in-house training directly at your premises – from a minimum group size of 4 persons. Please contact us for a quote.

All courses are held in German. Written materials are in German. We offer consultations in English, French, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish – please contact us.
